“You have to really peel the onion a few layers here, in my view, to really gauge what’s going on,” said Charlie O’Shea, lead retail analyst at Moody’s. O’Shea added that people should not overlook that Walmart spends more money each year on improvements than many large retailers make in a given year.
Millennials are far less intelligent consumers than Baby Boomers, and as the Boomers die off, Wal-Mart is being punished, for providing great products at affordable prices. That’s the only rational explanation here. I avoid Wal-Mart..The one near me is a pit. It’s the one people go to because Wal-Mart won’t build one in the ghetto they live or the town that’s too poor to subsidize them enough. There are constantly issues at this store. Mostly, it’s problems with theft, fraud and people getting into fights. It’s conveniently located close to the Interstate interchange to allow for quick getaways back to the hood. It would almost be reasonable for Wal-Mart to just convert their over-sized cart corral area into a police sub-station and save the transit time for all of the trips the patrol cars have to make there.
Pretty much the only thing I buy at Walmart consistently is motor oil and other automotive things. Now the Walmart stores in my area are pretty ‘nice’, as I live in a nicer area, but I don’t see any reason to buy groceries (besides a few convenience items here and there) at Walmart…the prices are not as great at the dozens of supermarket chains in my area, and the shelves are almost never fully stocked.
Hell, I do the majority of my shopping at Aldi, which absolutely crushes Walmart on price….and besides price, there really isn’t another reason to shop at Walmart.
