I am sympathetic. Why people think you should lose everything you’ve earned is beyond me. A punishment has been determined and he is suffering it. That ought to be sufficient.
People have spouses and others who depend on that income and to punish them for the crime is no different than raping the daughter of the rapist to make it all even.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the coach even needs to say who he is, they’ll know him on sight.

To be fair, this is ‘total compensation’ which is not what the state is actually paying though the contract with the coach may guarantee some amount that needs to be met if the other sources don’t provide enough.
