Whole Foods Market (WFM) shares have been in a downturn for nearly three years amid growing competition. But the pioneer in natural and organics groceries shot up 5% on the stock market today.
First, Wal-Mart (WMT), which is the largest U.S. groceries seller, said Thursday morning that it would curb new-store growth as it invests in e-commerce.
That’s good news for a slew of retailers, from specialty discounters such as Dollar Tree (DLTR) and Dollar General (DG), as well as grocery chains such as Whole Foods and Kroger(KR).The only organic stuff I’ve noticed tasting better are eggs and carrots. Organic/cage free or whatever eggs tend to have a darker yoke that is a little tastier, and organic carrots are a more vibrant orange with a more carrots taste.
Everything else is pretty much the same, if not worse. I particularly don’t like grass fed beef as it’s too lean.
