The CEO of Chesapeake Energy who was indicted on federal conspiracy charges yesterday will most definitely not be serving any jail time

He was doing 100+ in a 40 zone and drove straight into a bridge support at 9am. He was scheduled to turn himself in at 11am. I’m not saying it was suicide, but it was suicide. Aubrey McClendon, a founder and former chief executive of Chesapeake Energy, died in a single-car crash Wednesday, a day after he was charged with conspiring to rig bids for oil and natural gas leases.

“The hard part is going to be figuring out how he managed to shoot his own car 200 times with an automatic weapon from a distance of 100 yards before crashing into that wall. But we’ve put our best police officer on it. Chief, would you like to add anything?”

That reminds me of a politician who had his house searched and he went skydiving later that day. Was sheduled after all. And then his parachute “malfunctioned”. And the case was immediately closed because the guy was dead after all. Saved his family name and all the money I guess.

“Anyone who knows me, my business record and the industry in which I have worked for 35 years, knows that I could not be guilty of violating any antitrust laws,” McClendon said in a statement Tuesday.”Aubrey’s tremendous leadership, vision and passion for the energy industry had an impact on the community, the country and the world. We are tremendously proud of his legacy and will continue to work hard to live up to the unmatched standards he set for excellence and integrity,” American Energy Partners said in a statement.
