How much worse? Obama’s called a Marxist/Communist/Socialist, etc multiple times a day on Fox News and talk radio. Doesn’t really seem to matter how much truth there is to it, and the folk who believe it weren’t going to vote for Bernie or Clinton. It’s just noise to be filtered out at this point. To be fair, he’s not an international socialist. He doesn’t believe in having open borders because that would result in lowering the overall wages in the United States. Really, Bernie is more a Trotskyite than a Stalinist. Honestly, who does your research? “You could say I’ve got a pretty good history of picking the president, and my support is enthusiastically 100 percent behind Bernie Sanders,” he said. “I expect him to win the nomination.” Go Bernie! More power to the guy, but if he’s taking the oath of office on January 20th 2017 I’ll eat one of those flying pigs.
But not all Sanders backers would jump to Team Clinton. Manker, an independent who voted for both Bush and Obama twice, said he would consider voting Republican again if Democrats nominate Clinton.
Has he not seen what the GOP has to offer? There’s no shame in not voting.A lot of right-leaning people, who would never have even considered him 10 years ago, like him. They may have some disagreements, but Sanders has integrity that Clinton and most of the Republican candidates do not have.
Despite what CNN and the Clintons say, character does matter.
The biggest difference is that none of the people that they’ve slurred as a Socialist before were self-professed Socialists.
There’s a ‘reason’ that the GOP throws around ‘Socialist’ as a slur. It’s synonymous with ‘Communist’ in many American minds. And here’s a guy who cheerfully calls himself a Socialist.
you don’t see much of it now, but if he managed to somehow get the DNC nod, you’d have the GOP unloading on him with 100 years worth of Red Fear propaganda that still, sadly, works with a good chunk of America. Yes, the younger kids don’t see what the big deal is, but there’s far more Americans who lived through the Bad Old Days when the USSR was presented as a real threat to American lives and America itself. And America has spent many many years equating ‘Socialism’ with ‘Communism” for political reasons.
So, people have to realize that should Sanders manage to somehow get the nod, he’ll be painted as a godless radical Communist bent on nationalization of American industry, enforced atheism across the country…by force if necessary…and reeducation of the masses to see the glory of the Socialist state. And a goodly portion of the country will believe it. It’s complete and utter bullshiat, but that’s the path that the GOP will take and I’m fairly sure that everyone here is smart enough to realize that. The only question is, how much of America is going to get swept up in it.
America is moving forward. The teabaggers aren’t. A decade ago, the idea of same-sex marriage seemed implausible, with 34% of Americans supporting it. Today, it’s become legal throughout the entire country.
All their standard boogeymen, LGBT people, the irreligious, and to a lesser degree, Muslims and Middle Easterners, are being demystified. The teabaggers won some battles, but they’re basically losing the war.
There was a huge shift in women voters from Kerry to Bush (a vote Kerry should have had locked). Before Kerry was even nominated but after the smear campaign by Turdblossom Rove and the rest of the Hitler Youth. We got 4 more years of war in Afghanistan and Iraq because of that GOP smear campaign. If Sanders runs, the GOP will Perot-Stockdale-Cleland-Kerry him into stuttering, senile oblivion and their candidate will win. And we’ll have war in Iran.
41% still don’t know who Sanders is and those that do see him favorably. No other candidate has an overall favorable rating.
As a former democrat, I get all kinds of ridiculous fundraising mail from idiot liberals all the time. However, the BERNIE! mail I got the otter day was one of my favorite of all time. BERNIE! seems to think that the way to get support is to having a raving old homeless guy printed on his envelope. I assume the rationale is that with BERNIE! and his platform of “if it werks in Denmark, it has to werk here, amirite??”, they show you the poor, damaged souls that only liberals can save through punishing success. Yes it’s called logic. You take things that work other places and believe it may work again. Where Republicans do things like cutting taxes which destroys the budgets for their state and repeat doing it again and again.
